Virginia Blowout: Republicans Flip Top Offices, Win 7 Seats in State Legislature, Elect Black Female Republican as Lt. Gov.
Tuesday was a blowout night for the Republican Party in the blue state of Virginia as the GOP has flipped all three top offices — Gov., Lt. Gov. and Attny. Gen. — for the first time in 12 years, not to mention making a gain of at least 7 seats in the state legislature. Te GOP did well in many other states, too, in areas that have been held by Democrats for years.
Democrats hoped to install Clinton stooge and liar Terry McAuliffe in the governor’s office, but it looks like McAwful has just clocked in the least amount of Democrat votes for a decade.

Virginia’s gubernatorial race has gotten very competitive in the final weeks, as Republican businessman Glenn Youngkin has surged in polling, riding a focus on cultural issues like standing up for parents in battles with school boards and educators. Democrat Terry McAuliffe, Virginia’s former governor who is seeking a comeback as the state term limits governors to just one consecutive term, aims to keep the governor’s mansion in the Old Dominion in Democrat hands. McAuliffe handed the job off to outgoing Gov. Ralph Northam, another Democrat who has been plagued throughout his time as governor with scandals, particularly after old yearbook photos emerged of him in racist garb. While Northam originally claimed he was one of the two people in the picture – in Ku Klux Klan robes or in blackface – without specifying, he later claimed he was not either. Nonetheless, Northam held onto his job and weathered the scandal. Tuesday, voters will answer the question of whether McAuliffe can hang on for the Democrats and win back his old job or if the people of Virginia are ready to swing the pendulum back the other way after 12 years since the last GOP win statewide in the state.
Voters also put a black woman in one of the state’s top offices for the first time in history. And she is a Republican! Winsome Sears (R, Vir.) took the Lt. Gov. seat by nearly five points.
Former president Donald Trump crowed about Republican Glenn Youngkin’s win over Terry McAwful. And why not? The Democrats desperately tried to use Trump to smear Youngkin and it failed miserably.

It is looking like Terry McAuliffe’s campaign against a certain person named “Trump” has very much helped Glenn Youngkin. All McAuliffe did was talk Trump, Trump, Trump and he lost! What does that tell you, Fake News? I guess people running for office as Democrats won’t be doing that too much longer. I didn’t even have to go rally for Youngkin, because McAuliffe did it for me. Thank you to the MAGA voters for turning out big!
At press tme, the GOP had at least fained enough seats in the Virginia Hosue of Delegates to make it a 50/50 split, but they may just pick up a seventh one to gain the advantage in the lower house.
Republicans also did well in most of the elections across the country. And in Minnesota, the defund the police movement suffered a big loss when ballot question number two was defeated and the Minneapolis Police Department was not eliminated.
This is a big win for the GOP and it is bad, bad, BAD news for Joe Biden and the Democrats as the nation begins to look to the 2022 midterm elections.
