Biden Bill Gives Cops ‘Car Kill Switch’ Tech to Shut Off Any Car At Any Time

Joe Biden’s infrastructure bill has a provision that would force car makers to install a “kill switch” device in all cars to allow cops to shut down any car at any time.

In Biden’s bill, a little-noticed “safety” measure was included that will force car makers to add the kill switch. The measure says that the “safety” device must “passively monitor the performance of a driver of a motor vehicle to accurately identify whether that driver may be impaired.”

It appears that this “safety device” will always be on monitoring you as you drive and using a computer program to decide if you should be allowed to continue driving.

It also appears that the device will also have a back door to allow police to access it whenever they feel like doing so.

It would seem that this device would fully end your autonomy as a driver. All privacy would end, and drivers would be monitored at all times.

Thus would end the old saying “the freedom of the open road.”

Per the Daly Caller:

The lack of ultimate control over one’s vehicle presents numerous and extremely serious safety issues; issues that should have been obvious to Members of Congress before they voted on the measure.

For example, what if a driver is not drunk, but sleepy, and the car forces itself to the side of the road before the driver can find a safe place to pull over and rest? Considering that there are no realistic mechanisms to immediately challenge or stop the car from being disabled, drivers will be forced into dangerous situations without their consent or control.

The choice as to whether a vehicle can or cannot be driven — for vehicles built after 2026 — will rest in the hands of an algorithm over which the car’s owner or driver have neither knowledge nor control.

This measure has also not been vetted by legal advisers to see if it passes constitutional muster, but it would seem that it couldn’t. After all, this provision essentially casts drivers as guilty until proven innocent and takes away ownership of the car from the driver and deposits it squarely in the hands of the state.
