No, Florida Gov. DeSantis Did Not Say He’s Raising an Army to Secede From the U.S.A.

Last week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that he is planning on re-organizing the Florida State Guard, but almost immediately the left began lying about his plans. Some even said he is raising a “private” army to secede from the U.S.A.

Last Thursday, DeSantis announced that he wants to begin reviving the now defunct Florida State Guard which was put in mothballs after WWII. Te purpose of the force is to train civilians to serve as a quick response force in times of natural disaster or unrest. And it would be a force separate from the National Guard in the sense that the NG is open to being impressed into service by the federal government. This force would be beholding only to the state government and could not be taken over by the feds.

In part, the Sunshine State’s announcement read as follows:

The establishment of the Florida State Guard will further support those emergency response efforts in the event of a hurricane, natural disasters and other state emergencies. The $3.5 million to establish the Florida State Guard will enable civilians to be trained in the best emergency response techniques. By establishing the Florida State Guard, Florida will become the 23rd state with a state guard recognized by the federal government.

Pay special attention to that last line. Notice that nearly half of America’s states already have that same military system in place.

But almost immediately, the left-wingers began lying about what DeSantis is doing.

Lunatic, leftist, Liar and MSNBC hostette, Joy Reid, was particularly stupid with her comment on Twitter. She called DeSantis’ move “fascisty bananas.”

A truly stupid hot take. After all, why is it “fascist” for Florida to do this but not California and New York, both of which already have this? But don’t expect logic and facts from liberals.
