Navy’s NCIS Celebrates Navy’s Birthday by Accidentally Tweeting Photo of Russian Warship

It appears that the real NCIS isn’t so good at investigating after it tweeted a note to celebrate the Navy’s birthday with a photo of a Russian warship.

On Wednesday, the real Naval Criminal Investigation Service (NCIS) jumped to Twitter to post a message celebrating the Navy’s 246th birthday.

“Happy Birthday to the U.S. Navy,” NCIS tweeted. “We are grateful and honored to serve and protect this elite force serving around the globe.”

Along with the message, the tweet also featured a photo of a deep-water ship and a U.S. flag.

Here is a screenshot of the tweet:

So, what is the problem?

Well, that photo in the tweet is that of a Russian Kirov Cruiser, NOT an American Navy vessel.

Oopsie.

Naturally, NCIS quickly deleted its errant tweet.

Nitwits.
